Nevita is a telemedicine system that supports medical care for patients in developing and emerging countries or environments with limited resources and skills. The Nevita system is:

  • inexpensive,
  • mobile,
  • autonomous and
  • modular.

Nursing personnel are repeatedly confronted with complex decision-making situations that they cannot judge without help. The Nevita provides automated information and hints, whether there is an urgent need for action. Emergency situations are correspondingly recognized and further procedures are proposed.

The Nevita system offers applications for a wide variety of indications:

  • Infectious diseases,
  • Non Communicable Diseases,
  • Pregnancy Care,
  • Veterinary Medicine,
  • Disaster Management …

The system offers a low-cost medical infrastructure, implementing three innovative concepts:

  1. Simple, adaptable, standardised data recording using various sensors (ECG, pulse, oxygen saturation, blood pressure, etc.) as well as the input of patient information on previous illnesses and current symptoms, which can be read by means of barcode readers from easily adaptable barcode tables.
  2. The user receives an immediate evaluation of all collected data to prioritize the patients by means of the novel triage system. The system evaluates the combination of symptoms and data in terms of urgency and makes recommendations for further medical measures.
  3. Each system is equipped with a GPS module, which records the movement of the system, enabling detailed analysis of the supply situation for an optimized resource allocation.

Innovation and Advantages

Modular: Software and hardware components can be flexibly replaced and expanded.

Triaging: Recorded patient informations (anamnesis, symptoms and diagnoses) and vital parameters are processed and evaluated by rule-based algorithms. The user receives an assessment of the urgency of the health status as well as further recommendations for medical care (decision support).

Geoinformation data: In connection with consumables or pharmaceuticals, a better allocation of resources is possible. Furthermore, epidemic hotspots and their progression can be analyzed.

Dual use: The system can be used for mobile care as well as being delivered as an outpatient and inpatient medical workplace.

Energy-efficient: Low-energy components and components adapted to individual requirements. An optional photovoltaic module makes the system self-sufficient from conventional energy sources and at the same time ecological.

Inexpensive: The use of low-cost components and the modular design makes the Nevita system cost-effective.

Simplicity: The Nevita is intuitive and does not require a doctor to operate it.

Data entry: Standardized data entry via flexibly adjustable barcode lists of symptoms, preliminary diseases and diagnosis. This minimizes error-prone input via the keyboard.
